| I spend a lot of time choosing each stone at the quarries and stone yards I use before bringing it to the Workshop.
  
Since nearly all of my work is commissioned, most of the stones I get are for a specific site. I usually have a general feeling in mind when looking for a stone, but not usually a specific design. The stone nearly always guides the design.
Of course, when I am at the stone yards looking for a stone for a commission, I always bring back a few others. There always seem to be one or two stones with terrific personalities that I just can't leave without.
